Steamed Crab

Steamed Crab


  • 1 kg Crab
    (cleaned and halved)

Grounded Ingredients:

  • 2 lemon grass (herb)
  • 1″ galangal (herb)
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chopped ginger

For Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon light Soya sauce
  • 3 tablespoon thick Soya sauce
  • 2 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet plum sauce
  • A few drops sesame oil
  • 1-2 tablespoon corn flour
    (dissolved in a cup of water)
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste

For Garnishing:


  1. Place the crab on a metal pan ready to steam.
  2. Combine the grounded ingredients and the sauces together in a different bowl.
  3. Stir mixture to get a smooth sauce.
  4. Pour the sauce on the crab.
  5. Place the metal pan over rapid boiling water.
  6. Wipe off the cover before closing.
  7. Steam for 35-40 min.
  8. Garnish with red chillies and spring onions.
  9. Serve hot with Plain
