Mutton Kolhapuri (Mutton in Maharashtra style)
Ingredients:
- 500 gm Mutton (washed and cubed)
- 4 large potatoes
(peeled and halved) - 3 medium size
tomatoes - 2 large onions
(chopped ) - 1/2 cup of grated
coconut - 6-7 cloves
- 7-8 pepper
corns - 6-7 dried red
chilies - 1 cup of coriander
leaves - 1 tablespoon ginger
paste - 1 tablespoon
garlic paste - 1 teaspoon turmeric
powder - 1 teaspoon
poppy seeds - 1 teaspoon coriander
seeds - 1 teaspoon
aniseeds - 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup of mustard
oil - Salt to taste
Preparation:
- Marinate the mutton cubed with salt, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste
and keep it for 1 hour. - Heat 2-3 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add cloves, peppercorn, poppy
seeds, coriander seeds, aniseeds and
red chilies and cook till Brown. - Add onion, coconut, tomatoes and till it brown. Cool all the ingredients
and grind to a fine paste and keep aside. - Heat remaining oil in a pressure cooker and add meat and potatoes and stir
fry till brown. - Add spices paste, salt and water (if needed) cook it till the meat is
soft. - When the gravy becomes dry, serve on a plate.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with
Roti or
Paratha.
