Gujrati Dal



  1. Soak lentil in water for half an hour.
  2. Then cook the lentil with salt, turmeric in a pressure cooker.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan and sauté cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida.
  4. When mustard seeds crackles add curry leaves.
  5. Then add green chilies and coriander powder and cook.
  6. Add crushed cloves and cinnamon stick along with pre- boiled lentil and mix properly.
  7. After few min add tamarind water, sugar and salt.
  8. Simmer for 5-6 min and remove it from the gas.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steamed Plain
