Baking Soda or sodium-bi-carbonate or soda-bi-carb is a salt having Na⁺ as cation and HCO₃^- as anion and molecular formula NaHCO_3.

Baking Soda is mainly used in cooking, because it reacts with other compounds to release carbon dioxide, that helps dough rise.

Besides cooking it also used as a deodorizer, antacid, cleaning agent etc.
